Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
Bitread operates German Check (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how the App processes your writing and how optional usage analytics work.
Your Writing
The App uses Apple Intelligence and Apple’s on-device language model to check German writing.
Your writing and corrected text are processed locally on your device. The App does not upload them to Bitread, Amplitude, or any external content-processing server.
We do not operate servers for storing or processing your writing. The App does not provide cloud storage or maintain external copies of your text.
Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores a small number of settings locally, including whether you completed onboarding and your analytics preference.
These settings remain on your device and can be removed by deleting the App.
Optional Usage Analytics
The App offers optional usage analytics to help us understand how the App is used, diagnose problems, and improve its reliability.
Analytics are disabled unless you explicitly select “Share usage data.” If you select “Don’t share,” the analytics service is not initialized and no analytics events are sent.
When analytics are enabled, we may collect:
App launches, sessions, and basic lifecycle events
Whether writing was started or a check was submitted
Whether a check succeeded or failed
General error categories and model availability
Processing time
Word count, but not the words themselves
Whether a writing task was selected
The number of checks performed during the current app view
Whether a result remained visible for at least 15 seconds
App version, device model, operating system version, platform, and preferred device language
A randomly generated pseudonymous analytics identifier
The analytics identifier is not your Apple ID, advertising identifier, or Apple identifier for vendors. It does not directly identify you by name or email address.
Information We Do Not Collect Through the App
We do not collect or transmit:
Your writing or corrected text
Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
Account or registration information
Precise or approximate location
IP addresses
Advertising identifiers
Apple identifiers for vendors
Contacts, photos, or files
Screen recordings or session replays
Your Analytics Choice
You can use every feature of the App without sharing analytics.
You can change your choice at any time in “Setup & Privacy” within the App. Disabling analytics stops future analytics collection but does not automatically delete analytics collected previously with your consent.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
Third-Party Analytics
We use Amplitude, Inc. to provide optional product analytics. The App is configured to send analytics to Amplitude’s EU service.
Amplitude processes this information on our behalf for analytics purposes. We do not use analytics data for advertising or to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
More information is available in Amplitude’s Privacy Notice.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain analytics data only for as long as reasonably necessary to understand App usage, diagnose problems, and improve the App. We delete it when it is no longer needed or when required by applicable law.
You may request deletion of previously collected analytics by contacting us at the address below. Because the App does not use accounts, we may need additional information to locate a particular pseudonymous analytics record.
Contacting Us
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this information only to respond to your request, provide support, or meet legal obligations.
We retain correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to your personal data, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection to processing.
You may withdraw analytics consent directly in the App. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed to children under 13.
Optional analytics never include writing or corrected text.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited analytics and contact information described in this policy. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our analytics practices, or applicable requirements change.
Updates will be reflected by revising the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated within the App where appropriate.
